Educating Minds Inspiring Creativity Encouraging Integrity

One of the first tenants of the mission of the White Horse Youth Ranch is to “educate minds”. “During the summer months, we brainstormed on new ways to engage with the families in our program to make the most impact in a creative way.
As a result of this innovative thinking, the WHY Ranch Clinics were born….
These educational tours or trips occur one time a month and bring our entire group of 22 youth, their guardians and the WHY Ranch staff together. Not only is allowing an opportunity for all of us to come together an important reason to have the clinics but also to learn a new skill, technique, lesson or creative outlet to broaden the minds of everyone without riding the horse. Additionally, the clinics allow WHY Ranch to gain additional partners in the community to shoulder the work that we do of instilling positive interactions and encouragement to local youth. On October 12th, the WHY Ranch visited the Intermountain Farmer’s Association (IFA). Manager Valerie and Assistant Manager Jordan were gracious enough to allow nearly 40 people at once to visit the store. The visit started with a guided tour from three knowledgeable staff members. On the tour, the kids learned about three different types of hay, water troughs and horse fencing in addition to learning about grain and supplements. Many enthusiastic questions were asked from the kids as well as their parents.
On November 23rd, the WHY Ranch will participate in our second clinic of the year. The topic is slated to focus on veterinary care of the horse and the importance of proper diet, exercise and attention for the wellbeing of the animal.
