When was the last time that you painted your animal? On Saturday February 22, 2014 the clinic for the month was a fun and interactive way for the Diamonds to demonstrate their skills in horsemanship knowledge. Our former trainer Katelynn hosted the clinic with two of her horses and challenged the group to paint the parts of the horse that they knew. The paint – made up of a water, flour and salt mix – was easy to wipe off and fun to slop hands into and onto the horse. As the horse canvases were painted little by little, the groups worked well together in figuring out the parts of the animal. After the members of the groups “signed” the horses by placing handprints about the horses they were then asked to name the horse parts as the trainer quizzed them on the area in which she was pointing to. Overall, the Diamonds did really well with the task and were able to take home a study sheet for additional practice and knowledge building.
