The Diamonds in the Rough program currently serves approximately 25 youth during the school year season but with the purchase of our own 4 acre property we plan to expand our reach as well as as opening our gates to community activities. With our own ranch we have now acquired our own "Redeemed" horses. These horses have been adopted and rescued for various reasons but with the main purpose of giving them their own child to love them! Our horses have their own stories for all to follow while they become Diamonds themselves as they are paired with our kids and trainers at each session.
The focus of each session will be based on the individualized program while containing the elements for individual learning, growth, and development between the horse, trainer and team which we believe will also develop the values found in Hope, Family, Trust, and Faith.
The Why Ranch program is primarily focused on serving socially challenged children in our community between the ages of 8 through 18. WHY Ranch desires to be a resource for our whole community and is also working with other groups/organizations to develop additional programs to shoulder the needs together.
With our own ranch comes the ability to expand our Volunteers Program. Being hosted at other locations for 5 years limited the options available to those who desired to volunteer their time with us but that is changing. WHY Ranch is now growing the amazing program of our Volunteers. It is impossible to be part of someone elses life change and not have a life change of your own. It is never one dimensional just as a pebble skipped on a lake has many ripples. Our Volunteer Program allows others to share in more than just the chores of keeping up a ranch but also the joys of loving and caring for our horses and kids, working alongside staff, and especially experiencing life change personally.
We at WHY Ranch know just how difficult it is today for our youth and our families. There are many causes for our social issues whether it is Bullying, Divorce, Sickness, Military Separation.... the list goes on...but we know that we can make a difference "One Child" at a time by reaching out and offering our ranch as family!
